Thrifting is a treasure trove of hidden gems, and sometimes, all it takes is a little vision and some Loctite glue to transform a forgotten piece into a modern masterpiece. That’s exactly what happened with my latest project – a unique coffee table crafted from an old thrift store table and an Ikea TV tray.
Seeing Potential Where Others Saw Junk:
When I stumbled upon this sturdy table at the local thrift store, I knew with a little TLC, it could be something special. The plan? Deconstruct the table, repurpose the parts, and create a unique piece with a modern flair.

Creativity Meets Functionality:
To add an extra layer of character and functionality, I cut three circles using a router. The largest circle became the base, while the two smaller ones were used as internal supports.

The Loctite Magic:
Loctite glue played a crucial role in bringing this vision to life. It provided the strong bond I needed to secure the repurposed table legs as internal support and connect the two round portions of the original table to form the base.

The versatility and strength of Loctite ensured a stable and long-lasting foundation for my creation.

To create the outside surface, I used an Ikea TV tray, stained it for a warm, inviting look, and topped it off with a touch of faux marble contact paper for an elegant finish.

A Touch of Gold and a Second Chance:
To add a final touch of glamor and tie the entire design together, I cut the bottom circle 1/2″ smaller than the base and used Rub and Buff to transform it into a shimmering gold accent. This simple step added a touch of luxury and perfectly complemented the overall aesthetic.
